The Pretzhof was reconstructed into an inn between 1979 and 1980. However, the outside building was not tampered with. The Mair family believe that “life must be fulfilled through tradition. We renovated our farm to enhance its grand, rustic character. Out of the Prezhof arose the inn for “farmer’s food”. But that name betrays it - one can convivially contemplate over a traditionally rural Jause. Guests should feel for themselves in this environment - be it after a long day hiking, or also from getting to know us”. With these words in mind, the Pretzhof’s first guests arrived in January 1981.
During the first years the menu was deliberately restricted to recipes from old rural cooking culture, according to what our grandmother, Maria Mair, thought guests would like. Ulli Mair has cooked at the Pretzhof since 1983. Through her creativity and pleasure in cooking, she refined the menu with her team to offer household cooking and rural dishes. In 2002, the Pretzhof was expanded and a shop was added. A wine cellar and storage room were built at the same time, as well as an exhibit of typical products.
